Pastoral Care

One of our most important ministries in the Church, Pastoral Care is an opportunity to interact with our leaders and elders for guidance and opportunities to learn, grow in your faith, and ask for guidance or comfort during difficult times.

Our pastors are the leaders of the church (Rom. 12: 8, 1 Tim. 5:17), having been called to this role by the Lord Jesus Christ. In Scripture, the words "pastor" means "shepherd". Pastors care for God's people, as shepherds care for sheep.

The main task of our pastors is to guide those who believe in the gospel by teaching them the Word. By preaching all that He commanded, our pastors shall make each of us into His disciples.

Currently, there are seven active elders in the local House of God Ministry (Portland and Vancouver) who offer spiritual care for church members and other people who are seeking help. If you need pastoral guidance, you can contact us using the phone numbers given on this website.

Open Bible, Pastoral Care
"Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. "
1 Pet. 5: 1-5, NKJV

Prayer Ministry

Our Prayer Ministry is where we encourage each of you to engage in conversation and fellowship with God on a more personal level. While He always speaks to us through His Word - the Bible, it is important to communicate with Him through the act of prayer, where you have the opportunity to speak directly to Him and listen for His response. Words of prayer become the expression of the love for God that is in our hearts, and allow us to feel closer to His presence.

Jesus often prayed in solitude. However, there were times when He asked His disciples to pray with Him (Mark 1: 32-39, 14: 32-38). At HG Ministry, we encourage both personal and communal prayer, as both are powerful ways to connect with God, and both necessary for our spiritual growth.

Through our prayer ministry, we hope to provide opportunities for prayer, fellowship, support, mutual edification, and service for all our church members.

We hold regular group prayer meetings for the church on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. We also have special prayers of ministers who intercede for the people of God on Sundays from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, and Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

In addition, ministers of the church visit people and pray at home for blessings, healing of the sick, and deliverance from evil spirits. If you need such a special prayer, you can contact us by phone numbers given on this website or click here to fill out a prayer request.

Outreach Ministries

Shortly before His ascension, Jesus Christ commanded His disciples to travel the world and speak of His teachings to all nations. Often called the "Great Commission", Jesus wanted everyone to know of God's love and become disciples of everything He commanded, teaching this way of life to future generations.

HG Ministry is committed to the importance of the Great Commission and is involved in spreading the gospel in many ways. Our services can be found on our YouTube channel and the Bases of Faith website. Our youth program conducts street services, where the homeless are fed, prayed for, and taught the Word of God.

Our Missions Department organizes trips to Mexico, during which church services are held, many personal conversations with locals are had, and food and clothing are distributed to people in need.

The church also supports the ministry of rehabilitation centers. Every year, special collections are held for financial aid to people in need in countries within Eastern Europe, Asia, and the United States. Through these acts, we are able to show God's love and care for people.

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."
Matt. 28: 18-20, NKJV

Worship Ministry

"Praise the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever!"

With these words, the songwriter and king, David, begins several Psalms. Musical ministry has always been an integral part of worshiping and glorifying God. David, at the end of his earthly journey, ordered the Levites to always stand, sing, and play music to worship the Lord during services in the temples.

We at HG Ministry embrace musical worship as an integral way to connect with the Lord. Singing together as a church community allows us to glorify God as a single, powerful voice. Each member possesses a distinct part in praising Him and the act of worship makes us all feel present and included at the service. Nothing reflects the joy and contentment of being saved by Him quite like singing!

Music is, of course, a gift from God, so we worship him through song. May our praise be pleasing to God!

Youth Ministry

Adolescence is a pivotal period in anyone's life, often defined by life-changing decisions, crucial missteps or victories, and a tremendous amount of growth. Young people are often trying to navigate important milestones entering into adulthood, sifting through lots of conflicting information from different sources, and are constantly reassessing what is important to them. All of this can have a lasting impact on their spiritual lives.

At HG Ministry, we encourage our young members to bring their questions, concerns, and their willingness to learn to every service so they can develop an honest and strong relationship with Jesus. We strongly believe that having a loving relationship with Him from a young age is crucial to build solid spiritual values that will help our young people discover God's path for them. Our motto is Young Years for Christ (YYFC).

Our Youth Ministry organizes many events throughout the year (prayer retreats, camps, gatherings), as well as the Annual Youth Conference in July (Vancouver, WA), to build a community that is longing to get closer to God.

Over the years we've grown to have communities all over the nation, including programs in Canada, California, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington.

We invite and welcome you to join us for an event. Let's serve our Creator together and spread the good news to all nations! Follow us on Instagram @HGYouth

Children's Ministry

God put a great responsibility on parents to diligently teach their children to observe all things that Jesus Christ commanded of us. The faith of children grows stronger by hearing the gospel of Christ, reading the Scripture, proclaiming the works of God, and setting their hope in the Lord.

Our Children's Ministry consists of dedicated volunteers, teachers, helpers, and parents who truly care about the spiritual, intellectual, and physical well-being of the children. Besides weekly lessons at Sabbath School, many children participate in activities such as Children's Choir, Russian language school, art lessons, individual music lessons, outdoor activities, and summer camps. In addition, children are encouraged to serve people from a young age, they participate in the Outreach Ministry by making care packages for missionary trips.

Our goal at HG Ministry is for our children to experience the love of God, build a personal relationship with Christ and be the light before men, that they may see their good deeds, and glorify our Father in heaven.

Growth

A child's growing relationship with God is one of the most important aspects of their lives and something that should be encouraged and cared for. Beyond our Children's ministry, we offer education through Source of Wisdom Academy, a non-profit K-8 school, where we are devoted to every student's academic and spiritual growth.

We are a private school that follows a curriculum which supplies every student with a superior academic education without undermining, but rather strengthening, the students' understanding of God's Word. The academy is one of the many branches of Source of Wisdom Educational Center.

Founded in 2010, Source of Wisdom Educational Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to make a difference in the educational paths and futures of our young and growing generation. Our organization was established by group of leaders of Christian Church Home of God with a unified mission: To provide high quality education while establishing a firm foundation in eternal principals through personal growth emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
